Westerkerk, this church is in the middle of the city very close to the Anne Frank House. This building was built between 1620 and 1631, at that moment it was the biggest Protestant church and is built in Dutch Renaissance style. We all know Rembrandt van Rijn, right? He used to live close to the church and with this in mind, he got a special place when he passed away. He is buried in the church but no one knows exactly where, however, there is a plaque inside the church in memory of him. Furthermore, many more artefacts can be seen. The ‘Burning Bush’ was designed by sculptor Hans ‘t Mannetje. This artwork, which is also a place of reflection, depicts what links Christian, Jewish and Islamic traditions: a universal human desire to experience the unnameable, the closeness of the Eternal.
Eight islands in 14 days on the beautiful Majestic Princess. We were impressed with the friendliness of the crew. Great and fun entertainment. I love game shows -mostly to watch-and they had the best venue for it in Princess Live. I want to do this fantastic itinerary again! St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Martinique, St. Lucia, Barbados, Trinidad, Aruba, Curaçao.
